Very excited to say we finished building a portable solar generator and with it finished we are ready to launch the infrastructure catalog of tools and resources we have that individuals local to where we are can borrow.

The generator was a blast to build and we largely went based off this article from the Anarchist Radio Relay League on how they build their own solar generator.

Currently it hosts two 100Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, a 700w Inverter and an MPPT solar charge controller. We ended up about $100 under budget so we are also getting some quality of life and fail safe stuff – a fuse box, panel mount 120v plugs, panel mount USB ports, some switches and a battery monitor, and in the future we might get a Buck Boost converter for it. The ability to customize this to our needs and to know how it works since we put it together is sick as fuck. DIY or DIE etc, etc,.

All together it wasn’t too difficult to put together – we ran into a bit of trouble connecting everything to the battery because it kept giving big sparks. It was maybe an issue of the order in which we connected it because we changed that a few times and it eventually stopped doing that but I’m still not totally sure.

It’s getting it’s first test powering the sound and lighting for the Archipelago of Fire rave and I’m excited to see how it performs.

It’s available to be used for outdoor or squatted shows, demos, occupations, short term use in squats and disaster relief scenarios.
